 Facial peels are designed to gently remove the outer most layers of the skin to provide better skin tone and texture. Depending on your skin condition a Glycolic, Jessner or TCA peel may be recommended by Dr. Taylor to correct facial blemishes, wrinkles and uneven skin tone.
Glycolic Peels: Glycolic is a natural substance derived from sugar cane and is ideal for all skin types. Glycolic Peels, also called Light Chemical Peels, gently exfoliate the surface skin cells to reveal softer, healthier looking skin. With our take-home maintenance program, your skin’s overall health is improved as natural cell regeneration is restored. Glycolic peels are ideal for people who want the benefits of a facial peel but do not wish to spend the time required to recover from a deeper peel.
Jessner's Peels: Jessner's peel is an excellent and reliable method for smoothing the skin's surfae, removing surface pigmentation and sun damage, and generally freshening and brighteneing with very low risk. It peels only the epidermis and therefore is unable to remove deep wrinkles or dermal pigmentation but is very effective for restoring a healthy smoothness to sun damaged rough freckly dry or crepy skin. A Jessner's peel causes a fair bit of redness, often turning bright red rather than pink at the time of the peel. Most patients feel mild to moderate burning and stinging with this peel, persisting to some degree for 15 - 30 minutes.
TCA Peels: For medium facial peels, many doctors use trichloroacetic acid (TCA). This chemical works well for treating fine surface wrinkles, superficial blemishes, and pigmentation problems. Similar to the light chemical peel, medium chemical peels require less downtime than a deeper peel. TCA peels are the preferred choice for patients with darker skin.
